Season Wrap Up: Mercy Street Season One

mercy-streetMy watch schedule is starting to get away from me again. I’d had things so under control and now it’s starting to spiral. If I buckled down I could probably get it together again pretty quick, but I’ve gotten very caught up in my Grey’s Anatomy re-watch/catch-up. I accidentally quit way back in Season Eight and I’m finally making my way through what I haven’t seen. And when I got to the new stuff (well, new to me) I just got hooked in a way I haven’t been with a binge watch in awhile. And so last weekend I pretty much stayed in my pjs the whole time and from Friday night to Monday morning made it through the back half of Season Eight, the entirety of Season Nine, and a good ways into Season Ten. And now a week later I just started Season Eleven. I’m actually going to catch up before Season Twelve ends!

Anyway, so…that’s why this wrap up of Mercy Street is just so late in getting posted.

Season Wrap Up: Agent Carter Season Two

peggy and jarvis in the desertI’m going to be honest, after the ousting and takeover at ABC and the slew of renewals that were announced last week – not to mention the far from fantastic ratings – I’m pretty nervous for the fate of Agent Carter. Until I know if it’s been renewed or (gulp!) canceled, I’m going to be anxiously scanning the headlines every time I visit a site like TVLine or Entertainment Weekly. It’s never going to be a hit, but it’s an enjoyable little placeholder during the winter hiatuses of ABC’s bigger shows. I hope it sticks around.

so enjoyed the first season that I was a little worried they wouldn’t be able to recreate the excitement as well as tell a fresh story (isn’t that always the worry for a second season?), but I was not disappointed. There were some bumps along the way for sure, but ultimately I quite enjoyed the ride.

Season Wrap Up: Jessica Jones Season One

alias investigationsUgh. The last several days have been extremely unpleasant. I was hit with a stomach bug and spent several days out of work – and a good portion of that hurling in the bathroom. And seriously, I’m talking vomit everywhere. Oh yeah, at one point I threw up so aggressively I seem to have sprained something in my neck. And now I know just how often one uses their neck muscles in normal, every day activities.

A lot.

On the bright side, this time spent out of work (and not ralphing in the bathroom) did let me finally watch the entirety of Jessica Jones. So there’s that. Let’s break it down.

Season Wrap Up: OITNB Season Three

Okay, truth time. I’m still working out in my head exactly how I want thingsoitnb3 to go on my blog. How I want to categorize things, how I want things to look, etc. And this is one of them. These Season Wrap Ups, especially when it comes to shows like Orange is the New Black which airs an entire season all on the same day. And I’m a pretty excellent binge watcher when I want to be, so this latest season, for instance, was watched over a weekend. But it seems a little…I don’t know, rushed I guess, for me to post my season premier recap and season wrap up all on the same day. So I waited. I gave it about two months for the show to be available before I wrote up this Season Three wrap up. But I’m not sure if I like this either. Seeing as it’s been two months since I watched the season…

But let’s be real, you’re not here to listen to me think through the logistics of my blog. So let’s get started breaking down Season Three of Orange is the New Black. Continue reading

Season Wrap Up: The Flash Season One

flash teamI have no idea why this post has taken me so long to write, but it has. Seriously, a few sentences of this has been sitting in my drafts folder for about ten days now. Every time I go to work on it, I get distracted by something else. WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?

Despite my week of laziness, I have finally forced myself to sit down and get this out. Because soon it’s going to be sadly un-topical.

So here we go! A few weeks ago, I took some time to round up my feelings on the third season of Arrow, both the good and the not so good. Today we’re going to (finally) look at Arrow‘s little brother, The Flash.

Personally, I felt this was a pretty strong debut.

Season Wrap Up: Arrow Season 3

Well, if nothing else, Season 3 was certainly arrow-season-3-postersomething. Was it something I was always wild about? Maybe not. Definitely not. But it happened. Good things happened. Good character development and story telling, and while there was definitely moments of over reaching or clunky side lines, I’m certainly not going anywhere come Season Four. So let’s break it down. Take a look at Season Three and talk about what worked, what didn’t work, what were good choices, what were not so good choices. And then let’s talk about what’s to come.

Brooklyn Nine Nine: Where Do We Go From Here?

“So, a lot of change around here, huh?”bk_99_finale_h_15

Those were the words Amy Santiago finished out the second season of Brooklyn Nine Nine with. And while the changes within the show aren’t all as devastating as losing both the vending machine or Captain Holt or as exciting as Jake and Amy awkwardly wading into romance, they were on great display during Sunday night’s finale.
